Thanks Everyone & Congratulations to the Winners!!

March 8th, 2010 daveh6 No comments

I just wanted to say a quick thank you to all the people that came out and supported the OSU Club Roller Hockey Team at our recent Ironman tournament. We had an awesome showing with 23 teams participating in 3 different divisions. This was the first tournament that we have run and it was amazing to see so many people come out for it.

I really appreciate the professionalism that everyone showed as well. We stayed on schedule all day and the play out on the floor was great. Everyone was playing hard, competing, and having a great time. Most importantly the sportsmanship displayed on and off the rink was outstanding.

I would like to thank all of the goalies that came out and played as well. I think probably half if not more of the goalies played on multiple teams (some playing as many as 18 games) and logged a ton of minutes. You guys are the true Ironmen and without you none of this would have been possible.

Finally, I would like to congratulate the winners. Stay tuned for full results and pictures of the tournament.

  • Beginner: Marshall Roller
  • Intermediate: Advanced Wiring
  • Elite: Angry Snowglobes

Thanks again everyone, I hope you all had fun and I hope to see you out at the next one! Go Bucks!

Sincerely,

-Dave Hollingshead
President, OSU Roller Hockey

February 20th, 2010 daveh6 No comments

On Saturday, March 6th the Ohio State Roller Hockey team will be holding an ironman tournament fundraiser at Central Ohio Roller Hockey in Columbus.

Never heard of an ironman tournament? Here are the basics:

  • Teams of 4 skaters + a goalie
  • No substitutes
  • All games are 12 minute running-clock games
  • All penalties result in a penalty shot
  • No faceoffs unless the puck goes out of play (Play it behind the net on goals/saves)

These tournaments are a ton of fun and will seriously test your skills and endurance!

Three different divisions will be offered based on skill level (Recommended CORH house league levels):

  • Elite: Experienced players, fast pace of play (CORH A/B League)
  • Intermediate: Some experience, slightly slower pace (CORH C/D League)
  • Beginner: Little to no experience (CORH D/E League)

The cost is $125 per team and all proceeds will go directly to the Ohio State Roller Hockey club to help offset travel and game costs.
